He thanked overseas Indians for the support they had extended to his efforts and policies against black money and corruption.

PM Modi said that the government is working to put in place procedures for making descendants of the contract labour living in Fiji and other countries eligible for OCI cards.

The PM said his government will soon launch a skill development programme for young Indians seeking jobs overseas.

The President released a compilation of the speeches made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on foreign affairs and delivered during his travels overseas between 2014 and 2015. "Like my request at the last Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, I would again encourage all PIO Card holders to convert their PIO Cards to OCI Cards", hesaid.

Though the conversion announcement was made, a clear deadline from when the charge would be applied for the conversion was not mentioned. "In the second edition this year, I hope to see the participation of at least fifty thousand young overseas Indians", he said.
