"Because I'm going to be the champion forever and she have to retire".
There were already questions about Rousey's future after she said prior to the fight that her bout with Nunes was one of the last times she would enter the Octagon. That's all I know. Why would she want to keep doing this? "I think she can do whatever she wants".
The American MMA fighter is entering the octagon for the first time in over a year as she chose to stay away from the sport following her second round round knockout against Holly Homes in UFC 193 on 15 November, 2015. Aside from the obvious damage done to a fighter who has taken consecutive defeats via KO, the emotional strain and pressure have seemingly broken Rousey.
Ronda Rousey stands on stage during an event for UFC 207 on Thursday in Las Vegas. Being a specialist in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the 28-year-old fighter has it in her to challenge the American superstar.
When she was offered the title fight with Nunes, one of the conditions she gave to UFC president Dana White before agreeing to come back was that she would not have to do any media. Make them have to work for their story and they're going to call you hard or standoffish. She agreed to appear in those in-house promotions, in which Nunes is practically a footnote - a decision criticized on Twitter by no less than Joe Rogan, the UFC's lead colour commentator.
As the promotional posters suggested, Ronda Rousey was back, but she didn't at all resemble the same mixed martial artist who once dominated the sport.
OPEC: Planned oil production cuts materialises
The price of February futures for Brent crude oil decreased by 0.17 percent and stood at $53.93 per barrel as of 05:54 EST, Dec.16.
Nunes looked devastating as she disposed of Miesha Tate in just over three minutes last July.
Nunes acknowledged the role Rousey played in the growth of women's MMA but said Rousey's time has passed.
At UFC 208 at Barclays Center on February 11, women will headline again when Holm faces Germaine de Randamie for the newly created 145-pound women's featherweight division. She may even try to rekindle her invincible persona in the WWE and headline shows such as WrestleMania instead of UFC pay-per-views.
Earlier in the year, UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor was removed from the UFC 200 card for missing a press conference. However, in front of a sold out crowd at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Rousey went down in the same fashion she used to dispatch her opponents.
Rousey's lack of visibility isn't the only hit UFC 207 has taken.
With Rousey still carrying the weight of being the big draw, the UFC will not only enjoy the bump in pay-per-view buys, but also has the possibility of Nunes being the champion that put the nail in the coffin of Rousey's UFC career and hopes for another title reign. If she wanted a rematch, it would be the same thing. (Her name) promotes good.
