The team was eventually removed from the plane two and three people at a time via equipment from Fox Crossing and nearby fire departments.

Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press reports that the team has been in the plane for over 3 hours and are still waiting to exit safely.

The Vikings play at Green Bay at noon Saturday.

Lineman Jeremiah Sirles tweeted a picture of an ice-encrusted plane window and a view of the airport runway.

The flight from Minneapolis to Appleton, Wisconsin is under an hour, but after a safe landing, the plane slid a few feet off of the taxiway, causing the delay. No injuries were reported.

San Diego Chargers at Cleveland Browns
On the second-to-last National Football League weekend of the year, Cleveland fans got totally something unexpected Saturday. San Diego wideout Tyrell Williams scored a touchdown with just over six minutes left to cut the score to 20-17.

The team announced the incident on their Twitter page.

While holed up on the aircraft, Vikings players took to their social media accounts to document the ordeal.

In fact, you've probably never seen a group of grown men more excited than the Vikings were when they were rescued by a fire truck. In fact, they need to win their final two games and get a little help along the way to earn a Wild Card spot in the NFC playoffs.

Coleman said the Vikings plane landed at 5:10 p.m. before it skidded off the runway.

An hour earlier, the team tweeted, "We made it".
